Hello and thank you for clicking on this!
Cross my heart is a radioapple dead dove digital fanzine.
In April 2025 I lost a friend to suicide, in fact I've lost a few friends over the years to suicide…
I even nearly lost myself.
I can't thank the people I have in my life enough for the kindness and love they have given me, that has helped me keep going even when I just wanted to give up.
But there are so many people out there who don't have a support system, don't have anyone to turn to when the weight of the world crushes them down.
This is why I wanted to do something that could help - even if just a little.
Which is why for this zine we have chosen to support Befrienders Worldwide - a suicidal prevention charity.
And some of you may find it odd that we're doing a dead dove zine to support a mental health charity - but many of us find the darker topics a good way to cope/vent about things - and even if you've never had bad experiences we still encourage you to join and support this cause! Anybody is welcome to explore the darker topics in fiction~Once again I'd like to thank you for clicking this zine - and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.
And if you ever feel lost or alone - know that you aren't, click the charity to find help nearest to you or click below to find a crisis hotline in your country, and please reach out to someone.

What is Dead Dove?Dead Dove: Do Not Eat is a warning or tag that is used and interpreted in multiple different ways in different areas of fandom. One common usage is to indicate simply that "this fic is clearly labelled and fully warned for, so if you open it you know what you are getting."
The tag was initially proposed in 2015 as a way to indicate that a fanwork depicts "tropes that might be viewed as problematic" without necessarily any subversion or condemnation of those tropes, but confusion over the intended meaning of the tag has led to varied interpretations and usage over the years since it was coined. More recently, it has also become common to treat "Dead Dove: Do Not Eat" as a content warning in and of itself, indicating that a fanwork contains particularly violent or dark tropes or concepts.
The originally proposed meaning of the tag remains in use alongside the newer interpretations, leading to significant confusion and debate among fan communities.Taken from FanloreExamples include (But not limited to): Monster Fucking, S/A, Gore, Cannibalism, Violence, Extreme Kinks, Somnophilia, Darker Content, Age Play/Regression, and Controversial Themes.

What is a zine?A zine is a fan-made, unofficial book that contains art and works based around specific themes, series, themes, or ships.
Do I need prior zine experience? No previous zine experience is required! That being said, please read the guidelines and timeline carefully, and fill out the forms to the best of your abilities.
Will this zine allow minors? No. There will be no minors allowed. Applicants need to be 18+ at the time of applying. If aonyone is found having lied about their age, they will be immediately removed from the server and zine.
How will contributor applications work?We will require everyone to fill out an application to join the zine. However, with Cross My Heart being a digital zine, there is no reason for us to deny anyone unless there is a problem! We do encourage everyone to treat this seriously and use it as practice in submitting to non-digital zines!
Will there be restrictions on characters and dynamics?Yes. This zine focuses on RadioApple. It also will focus on Alastor being the 'Top' in the relationship and Lucifer being the 'Bottom'. That does not mean Lucifer cannot be the Dom in any relationship. Those dynamic roles are separate.
Will this zine allow au's?Absolutely! We would love to see any and all au's!
Why choose to do a dead dove theme to support a mental health group?Dead dove content is often written by people who have been in situations that aren't ideal. It can be a way to help come to terms with trauma, or a way to process. While dead dove content is often on the darker side of things, it is all about the limits of what you like or can handle.
Are the mods part of the LGBTQIA+ community? We are proud to say yes, every mod is part of the community in some way! Check the mod page for more info.
